Utorrent Walk-Thru
Once you install the latest version of UTorrent, select 'Options' then 'Speed Test. There are 3 choices numbered, dont worry about option #1 right now, worry about #2. There you will see a box that reads 'Test if Port is Forwarded Properly', hit that box, chances are, youre going to have to forward your ports manually. do you all have a router or a modem? either way, to properly forward your ports(dont be scared, its a walkthru) read this and do EXACTLY what it tells you to do. Port Forwarding now onto option #3, make sure its checked and protocol encryption is ENABLED. now option #1 under Options in UTorrent is s speed tester on some servers, after everything is installed and you restart your computer, open utorrent and open that speed test and pick a server closest to you and check out your d/l and u/l speeds  Now onto d/l'ing your first torrent. First you must find a show online with a torrent file, ala etree.org or dimeadozen.org/etc and save the small torrent file on your computer. you may want to make a folder specifically for saving your torrent files. now go to etree.org and find a RAQ show and SAVE the torrent file like i just said, it should d/l VERY quick, like a second or 2. Now simply double-click/Open the torrent file and it should automatically open in utorrent and there you have it. Also, make sure you folks know where you are saving your torrents you d/l, you may want to go into utorrent 'Options' under 'Preferences' go to 'Downloads' and under 'Location of Downloaded Files', make sure BOTH your 'Put new downloads in' and the 'Put Completed Downloads In' are saving to the same folder(make sure you have a decent amount of FREE HD space, like 20 Gigs as a starting point). ok, now go to the 'Bit-Torrent' button under the Connection one and make sure that under 'Number of Connections' you put like 2,000 or so, dont ask, just do it Now, under 'Protocol Encryption' make sure that is says 'Enabled', and 'Allow Incoming Legacy Connections' is checked! Dont forget to hit 'Apply' after each page is configured too  Now onto queing, under 'Queing' Settings, i have both amounts at 100 active torrents.NOW YOU CAN open that torrent file and start d/ling any and all RAQ on etree.org   If anyone has problems please let me know Bean P.S. thats as good as I can do after working 11 hrs and then frying my brain after work Hope my writing is legible This post has been edited by Bean aka Bean: May 14 2007, 05:32 PM |

Ok so now i'm stuck... I got the utorrent downloaded, and it says i have the show downloaded. But i can't figure out what i need to do now to make it play in itunes or simply listen to it in any capacity... I think i need to make the flac files mp3's ? Am i right, how do i do it? Serious computer illiteracy going on. Can someone please help me...

Can someone please help me... if on a PC, dl and install foobar 2000.......d/l the 'special' version and it already has flac plugins in it. it makes absolutely NO sense to d/l in flac just to convert to mp3's.....enjoy the flacs the way they were supposed to be enjoyed, in full resolution..... dbpoweramp is also a converter program that converts flacs directly to mp3's, or any other format you desire.... also, if you desire to burn these directly to CD-r, Nero is an AWESOME program that now allows flacs to be burned directly to CD-R as it does the flac>WAV conversion on-the-fly.... if you need Nero 6 Ultra Edition, I can give it to you |

Ok thanks for the help folks. From what i can decipher I need a program for 1- Converting FLAC to mp3 so that i can put it in the pod (even though they should stay flac for goodness sake). 2- Burning FLAC onto a CDR? I will work on figuring that stuff out today. Should i be able to play the flac files simply through a media player on my computer? I know i am probably asking silly questions but i aint got no clue...

yes, if on PC, use foobar 2000 for playing flacs on your PC. Its freeware too. DL the 'special' version and it already has flac plugins in it. just d/l and install and enjoy lossless audio
Nero 6 burns audio cdr's directly from flacs. PM me and I'll give you a DL link for it and also the flac plugin. I'll walk you thru it |
